We said goodbye to our sweet rabbit Emily tonight. She has been struggling a lot the past few days, not even able to stand up for longer than a few moments. Today was particularly difficult — her breathing slowing down every hour. An appointment was made at the veterinary hospital for tomorrow afternoon so we could help her get to heaven, but she went on her own this evening. She is at peace now, thankfully, as her last year was spent spinning almost constantly due to an inner ear infection that must have made her feel so terribly dizzy at times.
We will lay Emily to rest here at home, among flowers that will remind us of her each Spring. Run and hop, Sweet Girl. You are loved.A silly photo of Quinn holding Emily the day after her 11th birthday, June 3, 2004. Most pet rabbits live 7 to 9 years. Our Emily survived uterine cancer at the age of 6, and lived three months past her 13th birthday. She was amazing.
Hi Joanne and all,
ReplyDeleteI LOVE reading the posts. A great way for me to escape work for a few minutes when i need to just breathe. Poor little Emily, god rest her little soul. Unfortunately it is the cycle of life we all dread.. on a happier note, look at Quinn go!! He looks SO proud!
Sounds like Jake is a charm! Precious! I can only hope that my first one will be as cooperative.. nope, no news yet ;)
Take care,
Terri
My condolences on Emily's passing, congratulations on Quinn's entering Senior Kindergarten, and hoping you are happy. Hugs to you all!
